One thing that you discover as you get older, especially once you have a family, is that life moves pretty fast. When you’re young, a year can feel like a lifetime, but when you have kids of your own, it often seems like you blink, and suddenly they’re all grown up. This is just a fact of life, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not sometimes hard to deal with. The worst thing is when it seems like you don’t have enough memories of those younger days to go back to and enjoy. Fortunately, there are plenty of things that you can do in order to preserve your family’s most precious moments so that you can keep enjoying them for years to come.
Save anything your kids make
Kids do a lot of drawing and making. They spend rainy days at home scribbling all over pieces of paper (and sometimes the walls), they constantly come home from school with projects that they’ve made, and they are constantly experimenting with things that they can make and create. It can sometimes feel that your home is getting far too full up with all of these things, but you will definitely miss them down the road if you throw them away. Find somewhere to store them so that you can come back to them years down the line. When your kids are older, you can be sure that every little doodle they ever did will seem as precious to you as they do to them right now. For some things, it’s nice to frame them and use them as decorations around the house. That way you get to preserve a moment in time while also showing your kids how proud you are of them.
Have a family photoshoot
One of the things that many families don’t have is a picture of all of them together. There’s almost always one person holding the camera who never actually gets to be in any of the pictures. By hiring a professional photographer you can not only be sure that you’re all in the photo, but you can guarantee that they’re going to be gorgeous, high-quality pictures as well. Of course, trying to get your entire family to sit still and smile nicely for the camera is a completely different issue and one that you’re just going to have to figure out by yourself!
When it comes to kids, it can often seem like they’re tiny babies one moment, and then you turn around, and they’re suddenly teenagers. It’s a strange thing that you often only really notice how much your child is growing until it’s happened. That’s where growth charts can be really great. By tracking your child’s growth, you can see just how much they’ve changed over the years. Make a little notch on the doorway on each of their birthdays, or maybe you want to fast their feet in a clay mould instead. No matter what you choose to do, it really is amazing to see the difference as the years go on. Not only that but it’s nice to be able to look back and see just how small they really were when they were young.
