Hello Stars By Alena Pitts with Wynter Pitts {Book Review}

Disclosure: I received the following book for review purposes only. All opinions remain my own and weren’t influenced. My opinions may differ from others as well as those of the author and publisher.

Synopsis:

Lena Daniels never thought she’d get the chance star in a movie. Headstrong and determined, she has her life planned out to the minute. But when her best friends, Savannah and Emma, tell her about an audition, she knows there’s nothing else in the world she’d rather do. And now that she’s gotten her wish, Lena finds that being in the spotlight is harder than it sounds. She got everything she never wanted! Her face turns up everywhere she goes, and everything in her life is flipped upside down. Lena wonders if this is a dream come true or a horrible nightmare. Even a visit from her best friends during filming turns into a disaster.

My Thoughts:

My 8 year old daughter loves to read and I love that about her. She read this book in no time at all. I was taken back by how quick she finished and asked if there was another one. (Luckily for her, there is) As a mom, I’m concerned with the pressure that the spotlight, society, and all the stars put on our little girls. They all look up to them and think “I want that”. However, they don’t see the behind the scene work and they don’t realize that it isn’t quite the way it seems.  Luckily, this book is a nice taste of reality  and really depicts that to our little ones.

The book is geared towards young girls and is well written. I love that the characters are well developed. The pace of the book is steady and offers light, funny moments as well as deeper thought driven ones. Overall, it’s a book that I’d definitely want my little girl to read again. It offers a powerful message!
