When I was younger I always wanted a garden so that I could grow my own vegetables. Thankfully, it has never been easier to become an amateur gardener thanks to things like online garden centres! I wanted to be able to pass down my love of vegetables and growing to my children. I think it’s important that they know how to eat healthy, but to also know where their food comes from.
I’ve never really had the space to be able to make that dream a reality, but I’m also a total newbie at it so I only know some of the very basics. Back To The Roots has helped me step into my growing passion and get my kids involved in growing too.
I absolutely love spending time with the kids in the garden. That being said, there is quite a lot of work that needs doing in our garden at the moment! Landscaping can seem highly overwhelming at times. It is amazing how quickly our trees grow for example. We actually have a couple of big trees in our garden that could seriously do with some pruning. One of our friends has told us to get in touch with a tree removal service company that she has used in the past so I must remember to do some research online to find an arborist in our area. As much as I love our trees, they could definitely do with tidying up!
Anyway, Back To The Roots is reconnecting families and classrooms all across the world with the food they eat. With indoor gardening and windowsill growing kits, children learn where their food comes from, how to grow it, and how to eat healthier.
Their indoor gardening kits are a great introduction to gardening at home, but it’s also great for classroom use. Kids can watch the plant grow, learn how to care for it, and discover the beauty in growing their own foods. It’s also a great way to introduce kids to new foods.
We have enjoyed growing the kitchen herb garden. It has mint and basil, which are both staples in my kitchen so I was excited to grow our own. The instructions are easy to follow and guide you through the entire process.
The basil sprouted first and took off growing. The mint took about 2 weeks to finally sprout, but it’s growing beautifully now. It’s really neat to see how much they grow every day.
We also grew our own organic oyster mushrooms. This was a blast to watch and so much fun! The instructions were easy to follow and they grew super fast. There was a huge difference with each day and they were easy to care for. Head on over to my Instagram to see the day by day growth for this kit.
We had a blast watching these kits grow and plan to purchase a few more kits. I love that it brought our family close as we each tended to the daily monitoring of the plants. We were each excited to see how much they grew and how the plant changed as it grew.
Hurry on over to Back to the roots to discover a new way to garden!
