My Daughter has always had a way of making friends. It comes very natural to her. She’s such a people person. Hands down, she gets that from her dad. I can’t even begin to lay claim on that one because that part of her did not come from me. It has definitely helped her blossom into such a beautiful young lady though and I couldn’t have asked for more.
I remember her being so nervous on her first day of kindergarten. She walked into the school with sweaty hands and nerves that she couldn’t shake. The hallway seemed to be soo long and her nerves only grew until she stepped inside the classroom and sat next to an adorable little girl with blonde hair and a passion for TMNT. It was like all those nerves disappeared as soon as she realized she shared a passion with another little girl in the class. It warmed my heart to know that she was no longer afraid. Throughout the years their friendship blossomed into something truly beautiful. They have grown super close and spend so much time together. Sleepovers, birthdays, holidays, school events, etc. They don’t miss a minute!
It was heartbreaking to change schools this year. However, we moved at the end of the school year last year and we knew that it would be a possibility. My daughter really stressed over it because she didn’t want to lose her best friend. We assured them that we would make sure they still stayed in contact and that they would still see each other on weekends. About a week into the new school year they started writing notes back and forth and sending them through the mail.
They make the very best of their free time and have sleepovers. They share so many of the same interests, including discussing myths and who believes what and why. It’s funny to listen to them really. They give really compelling reasons behind their answers, especially to be 9 years old.
